LAUGHLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL INVITE. I can announce that our short film LOVERS has been accepted for screening at the LAUGHLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (LIFF) in October 2017. The festival dates are October 12th through October 15th.

“Race, love, and law enforcement intertwine as a serial killer stalks Los Angeles.” This socially relevant film has visually striking cinematography, a musically dramatic score, and a cast and crew with boundless talent.

It was an honor to be part of this project produced jointly by Film 14 and Firedog Productions. The film is based on the short story LOVE which I wrote and is included in the book: White Cats Can Jump! But Black Cats Are Scarier On Halloween. While being a part of the writing of the screenplay, being on the film set was a relatively new experience for me. I was amazed at the talent of the entire crew. Everyone was integral to the process. When we watch a film we see the actors, and probably somehow know there is a cinematographer and a director, but the size and expertise of the remaining crew is hidden. Makeup, props, sound, costumes, editing, and on and on is what makes a film really work. Then you have post production, marketing, musical score, and on and on again.

The vastness of the process is potentially overwhelming, but fascinating and challenging. It is a consummate team effort when done correctly. Hopefully we have done well in LOVERS; I think we have produced a phenomenal product. I hope you have a chance to see the film at LIFF, or at the other festivals we hope to be privileged to be accepted into. As I said many times when I was involved in the process–“If I’m the smartest guy in the room, I’m in the wrong room.” I was fortunate and was in the right room during this film, surrounded by talent, experience, and innovation. Wish us all luck.
